Pink Ribbons Caring: A Special TV Event

Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County Affiliate is excited to announce our October National Breast Cancer Awareness Month event, Pink Ribbons Caring: A Special TV Event for the Treatment Assistance Program. Our Treatment Assistance Program provides financial support to cover expenses such as childcare, transportation to and from treatment, home care, food, oral pain medication, durable medical equipment, oral chemotherapy and more.

This televised event will air on KCAL9 and CBSN in Southern California and nationwide on Saturday, October 3rd, from 6 p.m. to 8.p.m. CBS2/KCAL9 anchor Pat Harvey, Emmy award winning journalist, will be hosting our event with Samantha Harris of Dancing with the Stars and Ryan “Q” Quast. Additional appearances include Melissa Manchester, Sandra Lee, Kelly Osbourne, Summer Watson, Matt Goss, Dauzat St. Marie, Brett Favre, Marlee Matlin, Billy Vera and Raphael Alejandro.

We are looking to our passionate supporters to assist breast cancer patients receive critical services by helping us raise the $500,000 immediately needed for the Komen Treatment Assistance Program. The demand for assistance regularly outpaces available funds, and the layoffs caused by the coronavirus pandemic have increased the need for TAP funds. Your support will directly assist many of these vulnerable patients and their families now when they need the help most.

Nearly 16 million women and men live in the Southern California service areas of Susan G. Komen. In Los Angeles alone, each year, almost 6,000 are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 1,100 people die from the disease. In the Komen LA County service area, 21 families will lose a loved one to breast cancer each week.

In the last 25 years, the Los Angeles County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen has invested over $11.9 million in breast cancer screening, treatment services, research and education in our community. Komen LA County has continued serving its community during the coronavirus pandemic by facilitating services including mammogram screenings, rides to doctor’s appointments and access to nutritious healthy meals.
